Diane Tompson is co-owner of three companies working under the banner of the parent company, The Powercom Group, based in Tasmania. In addition, she is a founding director and co-owner of Novaris Technologies Malaysia. Her company Novaris is a leading edge electronic manufacturer producing lightning and surge protection products.
Diane is a member of the Tasmanian Council of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She is a past National President of Women Chiefs of Enterprises (International) Pty Ltd and is a current member of its board engaged in the role of International Chair of the WCEI International Committee. She is currently a Commissioner for the Pacific and Asian regions for FCEM, (Les Femmes Chiefs D'Entreprise Mondial) and in December 2012, Diane was appointed Vice President of Communications for TIAW, (The International Alliance for Women)
In late 2013, Diane was selected by the Australian Research Council to become a member of a panel responsible for awarding grants for Innovative Collaborative Research. The research undertaken will occur between Tertiary Institutions, in particular Universities, and Manufacturers.
In 2005 she received the honour of being acknowledged as Tasmania’s, Telstra Business Woman of the Year and was named number 22 by BRW for Australian Entrepreneurial Women in 2006. In 2009, Diane became the first woman to receive the Gold Medal Award presented to her by the Australian Institute of Company Directors and in 2011, was a recipient of an IWEC award (the International Woman Entrepreneur Challenge Award) presented in New York and 2013 a TIAW, WOD award.
