Message from the President

With a spring in our step in our 30th year.

After a year of change and tumult on both a personal and global level for many, let’s applaud women’s progress. The Economist which devoted its New Year issue to women said that coping with the arrival of massive numbers in the economy ‘will be one of the great challenges of the coming decade’.

TIAW which serves as the global umbrella organisation that unites, supports and promotes professional women and their networks to work together, share resources and leverage ideas, will be in the forefront. We have a track record of nearly thirty years of encouraging, developing, funding and implementing programs that foster economic empowerment and advancement of women around the world.

Our initiatives are spearheaded by our Program Directors – last year we launched a new entrepreneur program and this year we hope to launch a new Daughters program. New Committee members are always welcome, please contact me on president@tiaw.org for more information.

Our Regional Directors are tasked to liaise closely with our members to hear your views and initiatives, to encourage you to nominate those outstanding women for the TIAW World of Difference Awards. This year we will open nominations on International Women’s Day with a kickoff event in London, in April.

In my quarterly call with the Presidents of our member associations, we focus on our mutual needs with a frank exchange of information and sharing of best practices. The other week we discussed what we could do to retain our members – lots of great ideas – and in the next one we will review the benefits of membership.

In the Year of the Tiger, we must be courageous and decisive. As TIAW enters its 30th year we will look back with pride and with confidence that each one of us has contributed to economic empowerment of women but collectively we can do so much more. I urge you to respond to fundraising messages for and the TIAW Honor Roll.
