  Why Micro Credit?

Women in developing countries need help getting access to capital to

help them start or grow businesses. The concept of ‘micro credit’ – small

loans distributed with low interest rates to groups of women who work

t     together to pay off the collective loan – has shown to work as a way to

help empower female entrepreneurs who wouldn’t otherwise have access

to   capital.

What is the TIAW Micro Credit Program and what has it achieved?

Since the year 2000, the International Alliance for Women (TIAW) has

successfully built and supported a Village Bank Program to assist impoverished

women in developing countries start small enterprises. To date we have raised

funds for more than 120 Village Banks in 24 countries.

Who are the women benefiting from the TIAW Micro Credit Program?
