Celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2015, TIAW was founded in 1980 in Baltimore, Maryland, USA as the National Alliance of Professional and Executive Women’s Networks, and grew from a small, but passionate group in the USA to a worldwide organization group of professional women who united to support the economic empowerment and advancement of women. You may also read about one of TIAW founders, Marian "Mandy” Goetz, here.

TIAW is now fully international, representing women and networks from all continents. As past president Hannah Sorscher said, "TIAW members are women who not only want to be inspired and connected through TIAW, but also want an opportunity to give back.” TIAW’s programs are all designed to achieve a greater global good through economic empowerment for women. Many international trips and friends later, TIAW continues to exercise leadership in building a global community of empowered women.
