Sefakor is a Ghanaian woman with a physical disability, but her weak legs are far overshadowed by her strong will, passion, intelligence and perseverance. As a young child, her mother had to carry her to school each day. She went on to become a French teacher and then the Resource Centre Coordinator for schools in Eastern Ghana’s Education Service-Akwapem South Municipality, where she is a role model and leader with both women and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Currently, she is Ford International Fellowship recipient and master’s degree candidate in Policy Analysis and Advocacy at the SIT Graduate Institute-USA, where she is an inspiration to the whole school including faculty members and fellow students. Last year, along with her studies, she has participated in the meetings of the 56th UN Commission on Status of Women in New York. Also, she was in the Department of States, Washington DC this year during the discussions on the UN Convention of the Rights of the Disabled.
