TIAW Names Award-winning Advocate and Business Leader Andrina Lever as TIAW World of Difference Awards Honorary Patron
The International Alliance for Women (TIAW) announced today that Andrina Lever, an internationally-recognized advocate for women entrepreneurs, has been appointed Honorary Patron of the 2014-2015 TIAW World of Difference Awards.
Throughout her career, Ms Lever has seized every opportunity to help promote the economic empowerment of women, playing an instrumental role in the establishment in 1996 of the APEC Women Leaders Network as well as organizing the private sector component of the first two - and largest ever - Canadian women trade missions between the United States and Canada. She has used her time, energy, connections and resources to develop and deliver training and courses for women entrepreneurs, government agencies and major suppliers. She has chaired numerous government committees, promoting advocacy and good policy for women in business, helping women find better access to finance, technology, information, markets and training.
"We are delighted that Andrina Lever has agreed to serve as Honorary Patron for the TIAW Awards,” said TIAW Board President, Peg Weir. "She is a dynamic and influential champion of women’s economic empowerment who brings to the role a passion for making a difference. As the reach and impact of the TIAW Awards accelerates, she also has the experience and international presence to maximize the ability of the TIAW Awards to advance women’s economic empowerment.”
"I am very proud to be the Honorary Patron for this year's TIAW Awards. Statistics prove that countries where women are empowered economically have a higher standard of living, more equality, less conflict and higher levels of education for children. The TIAW World of Difference Awards celebrate the women and men worldwide who strive to promote this better life through the economic empowerment of women, and these awards,” said Ms. Lever.
Ms. Lever was the first-ever recipient of the TIAW Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003 in recognition of her advocacy, leadership and commitment on behalf of women entrepreneurs in Canada, throughout the Asia Pacific Region and in other international jurisdictions. She is a past president of the Women Entrepreneurs of Canada, founder of the Foundation for Canadian Women Entrepreneurs, and producer of four award-winning television documentaries featuring women and young entrepreneurs.
In her career, she has more than 40 years international experience in trade issues, business consulting and development, developing and delivering training programs for small businesses, finance and banking, law, international trade and policy, and trade missions covering more than 60 countries.
Ms. Lever was called to the Bar of England and Wales as a Barrister, and to the Bar of Victoria, Australia as a Barrister and Solicitor.
Ms Lever founded Lever Enterprises as a specialized consulting boutique assisting private sector clients to expand businesses internationally.
