It is with great pleasure that the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) announce that the forthcoming World Export Development Forum (WEDF) will take place in Kigali, Rwanda on 16-17 September, under the theme SMEs: Creating jobs through trade. Dedicated to supporting trade-led inclusive and sustainable development, ITC’s flagship event will be held in Africa for the first time. Speakers include the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and the World Trade Editor of the Financial Times.

WEDF 2014 will bring together some 400 senior national and international policymakers, heads of trade support organizations, business leaders and representatives of international agencies for a two-day opportunity to share best practices, increase practical knowledge and form new partnerships. Participants will explore how small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries can become and remain competitive and what assistance is needed from public and private sector actors to enable them to participate successfully in regional and global trade.
