ABW Connected is built on a "trade” model versus an "aid” model. In September 2014, in Ethiopia, ABW Connected will launch thefirst ever continent-wide Summit & Trade Expoin craft/textiles, agribusiness for cosmetics and tourism. For the first time ever, buyers worldwide – including those in Africa – will be able to connect with the best companies from each country in one location in Africa, rather than traveling the continent to find them.ABW Connectedis intended to become a long-term sustainable Summit & Trade Expo with the inaugural summit in Ethiopia in 2014 and future summits to be heldevery two years in different regions throughout Africa.
The Summit is built on three key themes:
TRADE: The first ever pan-African Women’s Trade Expo offers opportunities to build long lasting trade linkages between the top female exporters from each African country with International and African buyers.
TECHNOLOGY: Global technology leaders will showcase their newest innovations in mobile, web apps, social media, renewable energy and financial enablers to help transform women-led businesses in Africa.
LEADERSHIP: Women leaders from across the continent will share their wisdom and insight on becoming the most authentic and impactful leaders possible.
ABW Connectedis an initiative of the Canadian and African Business Women’s Alliance (CAABWA) in partnership with The Centre for African Women Economic Empowerment (CAWEE) and a number of other African and International Partners.
