Welcome to a New Year with The International Alliance for Women
I continue to be amazed at the truly global reach of TIAW! With over 50,000 members, represented by 33 Professional organizations from 11 countries, we should all find new friends and potential business relationships – wherever we travel – for business or pleasure.
The impact of the TIAW Microenterprise Program has been an inspiration to all of us. Seeing other groups “discover” micro credit and its viability throughout the world, while realizing how prescient we were to get involved in the issue a number of years ago, must be extraordinarily satisfying to those within TIAW who had such vision.
One goal for the coming year as TIAW President is to enhance our membership roster to include a number of Professional Women’s groups that are new to TIAW - on a worldwide basis. Working closely with the Membership Committee and our Executive Director, I expect to encourage greater participation in the Conferences and the benefits to be gained from membership. Maxine Westaway, as our Executive Director, does a masterful job of encouraging new members, and continuing to keep them “in the fold”. We can all learn from her as we meet potential new members of TIAW.
This is such a terrific Global organization! Let’s all spread the word and each add several new members this year. The more members we have – the more we stand to gain – on many different levels.
We look forward to having you join us in Santiago, Chile for this years’ International Conference. It will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Santiago from March 26 – 30, 2006, and we already have a strong contingent ready to go!
