Throughout the world, this is a time of changing seasons. In the southern hemisphere it is the beautiful, bittersweet autumn, a time of culmination and harvest. For those of us in the northern hemisphere, it is spring with all the promise of renewal and hope that comes as the days grow longer and winter melts away.
For TIAW, it also feels like springtime. There is great promise and activity underway, with new networks signing up each month, increasing the reach and impact of the organization. We have just finished successful events with the International Trip to Shanghai and Singapore, as well as a program of meetings and events in London, UK. And there is a great deal to come.
We held a successful strategic planning session in Safety Harbor Florida in January, with the full engagement and attendance of the Executive Committee of the board, some outside experts and representation from the “Old Girls” who remain such a vibrant part of this organization. We mapped out a number of clear priorities, including ways to ensure we include and fully engage all our networks in every region of the world to mobilize greater economic empowerment for women at all levels.
Perhaps the most exciting development is the way the Annual TIAW Global Partnership Forum is shaping up for November 8-10, 2007 in the Palm Springs area of California. With the assistance of the outstanding conference team from our partner network, the Women Leaders Forum of Coachella Valley, we have secured a wonderful venue – the Renaissance Esmeralda Hotel and Spa. Set against a breathtaking backdrop of desert and mountains, it’s the perfect place to bring together women from around the world to share insights and action plans. It’s an amazing opportunity for so many things; personal growth, professional development, positive impact on society, not to mention the “experience” – on-site spa, a climate of cool dry mornings and evenings with warm days and a wide variety of local sights to see.
