You are invited to be a part of TIAW’s global campaign to empower impoverished women with access to microcredit. TIAW is launching its "25 in 25 Campaign” – a commitment to raise funds for 25 Village Banks in 2005 in conjunction with TIAW’s 25th Anniversary and the United Nation’s Year of Microcredit -- at this year’s Global Partnership Forum. Make plans to attend Village Bank “Boot Camp” on Friday, November 5th from 2:30–4:30 pm, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, and learn about the importance of microfinance and how you can raise funds to launch a Village Bank.

If you are interested in attending "Boot Camp" or would like additional information, please contact Karen Rosen at (303) 368-4747 or by e-mail at execdir@apwcolorado.org.

Village Banks extend small loans, often less than $100, to women to start or expand their own business so they can better care for themselves and their families. The need for microcredit is tremendous. Microfinance institutions are currently reaching only two to five percent of the demand from impoverished communities. About 1.8 billion people live on less than $1 a day and 70 percent of them are women. Over 100 million children of primary school age are not in school and nearly 35,000 children under five die each day from preventable malnutrition and disease. TIAW is committed to making a difference, helping women improve their lives and those of their families and communities. Join us!
