As always, it was a whirlwind visit packed with wonderful events and great networking. The fabulous “Welcome Reception” hosted by past TIAW board member Madelyn Bennett (AWN), several wonderful as always, receptions hosted by Peggy Espinda in her home to bring together TIAW members from the Board of Directors Network (BDN), Georgia Executive Women’s Network (GEWN), Atlanta Women’s Network (AWN); and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Atlanta Chapter, and Women’s Commerce Club (WCC). Peggy also hosted a “Potluck Dinner” with members of the Atlanta Philippine Chamber of Commerce so that we could thank them for their support and funding of a Village Bank in the Philippines, launched last May during the TIAW International trip to the Philippines.
Monday morning we joined Peggy Espinda, Kay Leaumont, past President of TIAW and GEWN, along with Kathy Wilson-Chu, Vice President and President Elect of GEWN to drive to Greenville, South Carolina and participate in the luncheon to launch the newest TIAW member, the Greenville International Alliance for Professional Women (GIAPW). After many months of telephone conversations with Pamela Goforth Batson, President of GIAFPW, providing any assistance we could, it was wonderful to finally meet in person, along with the GIAFPW board, their members and many potential members from the local community. Kathy Wilson-Chu (GEWN) provided assistance in the creation of GIAFPW by advising on the bylaws.
Tuesday was a special AWN lunch as Linda Muir and AWN launched their fundraising for at least one Village Bank, if not two, as part of our “25 in 25”. While the women of Atlanta are always warm and full of southern charm, we were overwhelmed by the number of checks written on the spot for their new Village Bank, and the interest shown in this initiative. So many women wanted to buy the TIAW Microenterprise Pin we sold out and had to order more to keep up with demand.
Hannah Sorscher was delighted to have the opportunity to speak about all the exciting new things TIAW’s doing around the world. Patricia Foley Hinnen spoke about the TIAW Microenterprise Program, and our exciting “25 in 25” Challenge in honor of our 25th Anniversary.
We would like to thank Madeleine Bennett for hosting the welcome reception on behalf of AWN, and Kay Leaumont for hosting the GEWN reception in her home. The GEWN event brought together 4 past Presidents of TIAW including Lorri Pitchell, along with Hannah, our current President.
We would like to especially thank our hosts Peggy Espinda, former TIAW board member, and Linda Muir, President of the Atlanta Women’s Network (AWN) for so graciously welcoming us into their homes.
Many thanks to all who made our visit so warm and wonderful. We look forward to seeing everyone at our 25th
