In the Philippines, where she is from, there are many policies and programs to support and protect women. For example there are policies to create safe and protected jobs for women, laws to prevent gender discrimination and violence against women, and programs to improve women’s economic development through micro-finance and micro-entrepreneurship. All these initiatives support TIAW’s vision of working together to make a positive difference in the world.
Having been recognized for her professional and personal work by receiving many awards, Myrna is constantly involved in many women-helping-women initiatives, and holds many high profile roles, which include:
- Chair, National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women in the Philippines under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines
- Founder and President – Filipino-Chinese Federation of Business and Professional Women of the Philippines
- Chair, the Philippine Federation of Local Council of Women (The only women’s organization that is in partnership with the Local Government Unit)
- Member, Women Advisory Council of the Technological Educational Skills and Development Authority
- Charter President of ZONTA Club of Greater Rizal II Zonta, International
- Chair, Pearl S. Buck Philippines affiliated with Pearl S. Buck International (Pennsylvania U.S.A.)
Her work with Non Government Organizations (NGO) feeds her soul, and she takes a break from the daily stressors of her busy life by reading, watching movies and playing golf.
