The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), founded in 1997, is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its world class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. WBENC is also the nation's leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America's corporations.

The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is dedicated to advancing the success of Corporate Members, certified women's business enterprises (WBEs), and government entities in partnership with its Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs).

WEConnect International is a corporate led non-profit that helps to empower women business owners to succeed in global markets. When women start and grow businesses they create jobs, help the economy and improve communities.

WEConnect provides the knowledge, networks, certification and platform women business owners need to reach new markets and prosper.

They partner with a range of supporting organizations to identify and certify businesses that are at least 51% owned, managed and controlled by one or more women. WEConnect upholds the universal certification standard developed in collaboration with the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) in the United States.

The GBRW group consists of women who are aspiring to be on, or who are already on a board, who meet a clear set of criteria as worked on and defined over the last year and a half by the European Business Schools/Women on Board initiative and are therefore suitable to be considered for publicly listed company board-level positions. Women in the GBRW group can ensure that their profiles and experience are kept up to date and companies and recruiters can easily search and identify those whose experience most closely match their requirements and contact them directly.

GBRW Selection Criteria

Every application to this closed group is formally assessed and reviewed and only those women who meet the criteria below are accepted. Those participating Business Schools and Professional organizations have applied the same criteria for their participating Alumnae and Members.

All women on the list must have at least 5 years’ experience in 1 or more of the following roles:

  • Chair and/or NED of listed/private corporations
  • CEO, COO, CFO or other C-suite exec/director level in listed/private corporations
  • Family member and controlling shareholder of boards of large family companies
  • Director of government agencies
  • Director of non-profit organizationsInstitutional investment community senior professional
  • Professional firms senior partner serving boards and their committees as clients
  • Entrepreneur
